Christopher and Stephanie Corbell

…share a daily creative music practice in their home in Washougal, Washington.

Vocal harmonies emerge in most of their songs. Stephanie’s instruments include archaic Hellenic lyre (created by the Koumartzis family at Luthieros) as well as keyboards, guitar, and percussion. Christopher is a lifelong student of guitar, piano, and composition.

The duo shares a love of poetry, storytelling, and lyrical expression in song. They are drawn to non-commercial folk and ritual music from all over the world, and also share a love for neo-classical darkwave, postpunk balladry, plaintive Americana, and the music of fantasy and mystic practice.

In addition to their artistic collaboration as Raven Fables, the couple founded Washougal Songcraft Festival to foster and celebrate the art of songwriting and to support the performing arts scene of their home town.

Beyond their original music, their performances may include covers of traditional folk songs and fiddle tunes as well as works by favorites artists such as Gillian Welch, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, P. J. Harvey, Dead Can Dance, Pixies, REM and others.
