Raven fables
Sylvan Songcraft from the Shadows of the Pacific Northwest
About Raven Fables
An intimate collaboration of married duo Stephanie and Christopher Corbell, the musical spells of Raven Fables are rooted in forest and folklore, haunted by ghost stories and mystic rituals, spinning exquisite dark ballads which entangle lyrical impulses and neo-classical harmonies like vine-shrouded ruins.
Raven Fables hail from Washougal, Washington, where they have been the leading advocates and exemplars of an emerging songwriter-focused music scene. As founders of Washogual Songcraft Festival and hosts of its monthly song circles, the duo has anchored a diverse and original scene with their music-community connections and devotion to creative culture.
Stephanie Corbell is a gifted singer and multi-instrumentalist. Her musical explorations of archaic lyre, keyboard, and guitar create the band’s signature textures. Stephanie’s voice ranges from the directness of rock-informed folk to lovely and elusive harmonies and impassioned arias.
Christopher Corbell is the group’s primary songwriter and arranger, bringing a devotion to lyrical craft and musical architecture honed through years of both songwriting and composition, including original chamber music and opera. Corbell’s lyrics focus on the duo’s shared love of poetry, storytelling, nature, and earth-based spirituality.
